I've had my eye on this one for a long time now, and it's finally out now. Definitely gives off some HOMM3-like vibes (I believe the lead dev has said it was the primary inspiration for this game).

The heavily pixelated/old-school graphics aren't going to be for everyone, but I find a certain charm to them. The auto-battle feature is *very* nice to have, and you can still move your units around and cast spells mid-combat as you see fit. Maps can be randomly generated and are pleasingly large (for those who want bigger maps like myself). Factions feel like they might be a smidge unbalanced, but at least they also feel fairly unique.
It's obviously too early to say with certainty, but I get the feeling Hero's Hour will end up being more than worth the price (less than $17.99 (USD) -- and that's not including the currently "new release" discount).
mod edit for title typo

Spif is definitely a fan. This is at least the second time he's featured the game in a video (he really likes going the necromancer route!).

(psst... title... 'here's/hero's'...)

(Damn it, I thought I fixed that before I posted the thread. Argh. Thanks, Brant.)
Incidentally, it's currently one of the top selling games on Steam. Pretty cool.

Thanks, Brant.

So I was a little late in noticing this, but the developer has already announced the game's first DLC, Rogue Realms:

From skimming the forums and recent Steam reviews, I don't think the community is very happy he's working on DLC so soon after the game launched. I haven't played this in a while, but it sounds like there's still plenty of bugs, balance problems, and other issues that could -- and perhaps should -- be ironed out before the dev starts working on new content. It'll be...interesting to see how this ends up shaking out.
