Turn 7 - Impulse 4

Charlie Squad
Cpl Thomas  is hiding

Pvt Stubbs has a Run & Gun order and fires at Soldat Abbas
D2=+1, Run & Gun = -1, Enemy in the open with Run & Gun =-1. WS5+1-2-1 = 3 or less
A roll of 6 is a miss

Pvt Temple is hiding and guarding Soldat Horn

Baker Squad
Pvt Johnson is hiding

Pvt Donahue has an Evade order and moves to 26.03 and captures the onjective

Blue Team
Soldat Hahn has an Evade 3 order and moves to 28.02

Soldat Abbas has a Run & Gun 4/5 order and opens fire on Pvt Stubbs
D2=+1, Run & Gun is -2, target is Run & Gun in rocks and so -2. With a WS of 4+1-2-2, he needs to roll a 1 or less
He rolls a 4 and misses

And it's over...

These are the victory parameters

The Allied player had points assigned thus
  • 3 Objective hexes at 4 points each = 12 points
  • 1 Enemy NCO killed at 2 points each = 2 points
  • 5 Enemy soldiers killed at 1 point each = 5 points
  • 1 Captured enemy soldier at 3 points each = 3 points
  • 1 Enemy soldier left a friendly edge = -2 pints
  • 1 Friendly soldier killed = -3 points

That's 12+2+5+3=22-2-3=17

The victory parameters are

So I have a Superb Victory - commendation placed in 201 file

Noice.

Thanks for watching. I'll be honest, it's unlikely I'll ever do another one of these. I liked showing you guys the mechanics and I thought it was super important to do so given the cost of the game - but what should've taken me a night (and no more than 2 nights) turned out to be more than a month.

Also the one of the beautiful aspects of the game is the speed you can play it. The AAR has sapped that right out of it.

I don't resent doing it - but I'm done in  :2funny:

I get that it was a laborious activity, but I really enjoyed reading along with it and I appreciate you taking the time to go through it all with us.

if it does hit the table again another time, feel free to take a bunch of pictures of the action and just give us a general sense of what's happening in the turn without going through character by character.

It's always fun to watch everyone else's games going on 😀

I'm glad you all enjoyed it. It really is a very good system.

The Combat!2 "expansion" is introducing quite a bit including vehicles, elite enemies with new traits like dodge, deadly, sniper etc (oddly there's snipers in this game but no special rules for them). New weather conditions, fire conditions from explosions.

Unsurprisingly, vehicles take up the majority of the new rules (page 10 to 35!) as the "base" has already been set from an infantry and terrain perspective.

I'll echo everyone else and say, fantastic work, JD.

I'd be tempted by this, but I have Fields of Fire Vol 1 to get into, which is supposed to be the penultimate solo system for WW2 combat. Maybe some day. :)

Hey JD - just a heads-up that this is starting to get some attention now that Combat! Vol 2 is shipping, and you're missing a bunch of pics up and down the AAR.  If you need me to host some stuff so we can keep them "live" just let me know

Sorry Brant. I don't have those pics anymore. It was Flickr hosting them and I needed to clear some for space. I tried not to get rid of recent stuff...I reckon some got inadvertently caught up in the clear out.

This is kind of worse than when Photobucket screwed me over - because this was my doing.

Sorry.

I've just looked through the thread and man, that is a bummer. The text gives everything that's needed - but the images helped show and made it "less" boring.
