They are all digital, but that's the focus of the site
https://www.rebelsmarket.com/blog/posts/the-8-best-steampunk-games-you-should-be-playing
how many of these have you guys played? Do you think they qualify as steampunk? Any of them any good?
-
I've played Dishonored, though it was only for a total of about 6 hours. I'm not much into stealth games.
I also played Arcanum, though recently, via GOG. I didn't have the benefit of nostalgia to reflect back on, and the game was not bad, though it was unforgiving.
Bioshock: Infinite, I've played twice, and is a great game. It catches a LOT of flak for its racist overtones, but some fail to understand it's the portrayal of such themes in the city-in-the-clouds, not as some kind of racist message the developers were trying to expound. It's probably my favorite of the Bioshock series.
-
Is Bioshock: Infinite mostly a shooter or is there more to it?
I'm not much good at shooters anymore but this game looks interesting and gets lots of good press too.
-
I like Steampunk :)
-
I don't get the appeal of Steampunk. :(

I'm not the biggest fan of the Napoleonic wars - to each our own

It's pretty much a shooter, but it's not a difficult shooter. I think it has difficulty levels too. There's a few hairy parts but not impossible.

How about Napoleonic Steampunk?
..no?
OK

I was excited for a minute until I realize there would be no discussion involving dice, rules or mechanics.
-
Sadly not. But one can continue to hope.

plus, they're all digital
but if you'd like to give us your personal romp through the steampunk tabletop world, we're all here for it!

Well, Bison, there IS a board game version of Bioshock: Infinite.

Nah. Proper Steampunk has to be set in Victorian England - I thought everybody knew that ::)
-
Yeah I don’t know about a board game version of Bioshock. I liked the original PC game but the series really lost me afterwards.
Only Streampunk tabletop rpg I can think of is Deadlands. Wild West mixed with some steampunk elements.
Personally, I’ve been looking at some different Pulp game rulesets. Hollow Earth and Amazing Adventures. Although, there’s no reason why some steampunk couldn’t be woven into the storyline.

I have the Hollow Earth box set somewhere, I think. When I worked at Waldenbooks, it appeared in our damaged goods bin and I scored it for $2 I think.

Man that’s awesome. I’m a bit miffed because they only print the digest version of the rulebook now. So smaller print black and whit images...seriously is it that hard to have multiple print on demand formats?

Jim West disagrees ;D

I’m leaning toward Amazing Adventures because it’s published by Troll Lord games and I’m already familiar with the siege system. Trolllords are a good company who IMHO treat their customers fairly and with respect. I like to support those types of people and companies.

If I run across it I'll reach out to you and send it over. Don't get too excited though, it's been a while since I've seen it and it might be something I sold before I left a couple of years ago.

BC, the Hollow Earth box you're thinking of is part of the BECMI D&D Mystara world. The Hollow Earth game Bison is talking about didn't exist yet when Waldenbooks went out of business
Bison is probably talking about this one
https://rpggeek.com/rpg/770/hollow-earth-expedition (https://rpggeek.com/rpg/770/hollow-earth-expedition)
And you're probably talking about this onehttps://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/46967/hollow-world-campaign-set (https://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/46967/hollow-world-campaign-set)
That was actually sold in a box at Waldenbooks

Wouldn't that be more likely 'Windmill Punk'?
