Looks like the GPU spikes might've killed my card.  Started getting hard crashes on other games so I ran diagnostics.  Temps are now spiking to 104°C when i run a game.  Took the card to my trusty PC guy.  He says something flash cooked it.  Thermal paste even dried and cracked.

Time for a new card.  Boo!

Did you adjust the settings eventually or just go with play til it burns?

I adjusted them down after the first crash which was only about 15 minutes into the game.  I scanned the forums and noted a number of people reporting GPUs running at 100% and overheating so I just dialed back to settings other recommended.

New card but the benchmark comparisons say it's pretty much a lateral movement.

Went from a RTX 2070 Super to a 4060ti

I can't remember the last time I've played a computer game for this amount of time AND had that "I'll just do that before bed" feeling.

It's a very good game...though I'm super overprotective of my mercs and often restart a mission if I lose one (rather than just buy another).

Ammo is extremely low in game. I'm playing it on easy which I think is meant to have more abundant ammo. I've got a shit ton of rifles that fire 7.62 NATO and I can't get ammo anywhere. I have made some previously - but I don't have the stuff to make anymore.

There was a small patch but the only mention of anything GPU related was a comment about reducing the effects of Ultra high Shadows on GPU loading.

I’m still playing and it is fun. I’ve not had any of the GPU issues others have nor any crashes to date.

I've not experienced any crashes either for some time. The only thing I did was reduce the monitor frequency.

As for the game itself - aye - it's a great game. I'm running out of ammo though and no way to make some - so I'll need to look into that because the enemies get more and stronger (or stronger mix at least) and I can't go in with pistols!

Mine's been running fine since the GFX card switch.

I'm enjoying it but I've learned to hate crocodiles.

Yeah, those crocs are nasty. 

I’m also running out of ammo for my long guns. I’m about to capture the “repair center”(?) near the bottom of the map near Port Cacao.
Yer supposed to be able to craft stuff there.
