The Pegasus Expedition

The Pegasus Expedition is releasing onto Steam Early Access October 20:

I'll admit, I'm liking the development roadmap they've laid out in the above post.  The first planned major content update sounds  particularly promising: 

EA Content Update #1 - December 2022 / January 2023

    New Scenario: Scattered Empires.

    A new way to play the game with randomised starting positions and customised start settings for those who want to have a more traditional 4X experience without the story of The Pegasus Expedition.
    Gameplay updates:

    Quality of life improvements, including expanded camera controls and UI elements to better manage players' empire in late game.

It sounds like the devs genuinely have been listening to player/community feedback on this, which is good.  I honestly don't believe the game could have succeeded in its current form.  Adding a more standard 4x experience will give the game some badly-needed replayability & longevity. 

Granted, this still doesn't guarantee its success.  At least now, though, I'm willing to grant the game may just have a shot at making it.

I don't know that I have the time/patience to try this one again (even with the updated demo). but it sounds like perhaps the game is headed in the right direction, at least.  It initially launched to "Mixed" reviews, but has since improved to a 71% "Mostly Positive" rating.  Still don't know if it's my cup of tea.

Incidentally, the game exited Early-Access today, and is now officially released as a full game:

It still doesn't really look like it's my jam, but congrats to the devs nonetheless.  I honestly had my doubts this one would actually see the light of day -- it was stuck in development purgatory for a long time -- so good for them.
