I'll try, but really won't know for sure until later this summer.

That's the same weekend as ASLOK.

And for me, we have a large event at work around that time, and two of my grandkids have birthdays in October.

Since we are thinking of moving to the RDU area, I will likely come done sometime this year, but probably not that weekend.

I’ve spent half my life’s earning on wargames, women, and drink. The rest I wasted.

I'm not sure that affects us much one way or the other, but our decision here was driven by State Fair weekends than by ASLOK scheduling

Eesh.  Sounds busy!

Definitely let me know!  Happy to get together for a beer or some munchies.

The Clemson-NC State game used to always be NC State Fair week. Talk about a disaster...

I remember the year they wanted a noon football game and a 7pm hockey game on a State Fair weekend.

To their credit, they only had to learn that lesson once.   :idiot2:

OK, we're confirmed that we're back in the store again this year, so Gamer's Armory will be hosting again

For folks looking at coming to the Fall Assembly - badge sales open this weekend / event registration a few days later.

Would LOVE to have a few more events submitted into the program before we open registration.  Over a dozen now, but would like to have 8-10 more if possible, and that still leaves plenty of table time for pickup games, too

It's looking more likely that I'll be moving to that area next Summer, so an event like this would be a good way for me to see the scene.  But unfortunately, I'll be at ASLOK that weekend.

We realized that ASLOK was the next weekend after we'd picked these dates.

Essentially, we're going to target the weekend before the NC State Fair each year as the Fall Assembly weekend, and hope that works over the long haul.

What's bringing you to the area?  Work?  Family?  Retirement?

Yeah, I understand.

What's bringing you to the area?  Work?  Family?  Retirement?

The last two.  My wife and I had considered retiring in that area, but we didn't want to be too far from the grandkids.  Then out of the blue my younger daughter said they wanted to move down there.  They currently live in a townhouse in the DC area, but can't afford a house here, plus I think they want to find a slower pace of life than DC.  We're pretty close to her, and she asked if we'd want to move with her.  She visited the area last month and liked it, so we'll start putting the wheels in motion.

Not sure if I'll continue to work.  I'm eligible to retire now, but I don't hate my job and would like to work for a few more years.  If they let me go fully remote, I'll continue to work, or maybe they will let me go super max telework and I'll only have to go in to the office occasionally.

Overall, we will be happy to leave the DC area.  However, the local ASL scene here has been doing well lately and I could play every weekend if I wanted to.  For non-ASL gaming, earlier this year I found a guy who lives around the corner from me.  We've been meeting every other Friday.  We just finished a series of No Retreat games and will be starting Donnerschlag next.  But I'm sure I'll find some new opponents in the Raleigh area.

You'll be happy with the amount of ASL support you'll have around here

I'm hoping to eventually be able to add some ASL games to the Fall Assembly program, but it might take a year or so
