Has anyone heard of this game by Flying Pig Games? Seems pretty cool. Anyone got it? Impressions?
-
Nope, never heard of it, although I obviously know what the subject is. I'm not a great fan of FPG to be honest.
-
They were showing it off at Origins a year or so ago. Some folks thought it was the bees' knees. I'm more in line with Bawb on this one.
-
Wow, you can guys hold a grudge. Remind me to always be on yer good side. :D
You can get a PnP version from Wargame Vault:

lol
'65?
Old School Tactical?
Armageddon War?
Any reason why they don't have much love as a publisher
I appreciate the link Barth...and it'll be handy for others - but I'm never playing a PnP version of a game  :bigthumb: ;D
-
I've seen good things posted about Crowbar on a few FB wargame groups. But it has a high price tag.
-
It's cheaper than Combat! :2funny:
-
Everything is cheaper than Combat! :D

Call me persistent - but I thought I'd ask again....
-
Some of the games are perfectly fine. I've played night of man several times, and 65 uses basically the same system. We don't have much trouble finding people willing to express their love of the OST system
And there are plenty of people that like Armageddon War
(edited...)

...We'll have much trouble finding people willing to express their love of the OST system
I thought OST was well regarded? Unless you meant "We'll NOT have much trouble..."?
But that's why I was asking you (and Bawb) why there was a thing with FPG...just trying to find out what specifically is wrong with them...game specific or publisher wise?
I quite liked the look of Armageddon War. Not pulled the trigger yet though.
-
No point in digging too deep, Its a subjective thing for most people, unless you have had a personal experience which has resulted in not being too keen on the products or ethos of a particular publisher.
-
should've said "we don't have...."
-
I was just curious as it was mentioned
-
I'd love to get Combat! - eventually. I regret sometimes selling my Ambush! series, but only because of someone in the Solitaire Wargames group on FB posting how they just acquired it, in good shape. I gotta stop looking at those posts. :D

JD, let me know I’d yer really interested in Armageddon War. I have the complete KS bundle, played a couple of times and found it not my cup of tea. I could let you have for way less than market if you want it.

Throw in a bag of Ketchup crisps and he'll buy it! 8)
-
Yeah, I have failed in that quest.... :(
-
Thank you very much for the offer barth...but as bad as my memory is, I'm sure we've been here before and the postage was ridiculous
I've just done a search and it was Panzerde that offered it and shipping was $100-$120
Oh and no worries about the crisps. I realise I was in "the other" Canada

Yeah, but that was from a traitorous ex-colony. I’m sure proper Commonwealth states have better arrangements. ;)

lol - they were traitorous!! All we wanted was some more money to keep the home folk comfy!
Well - that's very kind of you. Let me know what you want including postage and I'll evaluate your offer.
Thank you
-
Well crap. Postage from here would be $120 CAD !?! :o
Large and heavy game....
:(

Something doesn't seem right there- I've ordered entire desktop size computers (heavy vintage ones) from both UK and German eBay vendors for a lot less shipping than that. An Amiga 2000 weighs a lot more than you'd think...
Can it really be that much the other way around? Of course, this was pre-COVID...

10 adverts in a 30 minute video?? Youtube is quickly going to the dogs. Proper pushing their premium service by making the experience as shite as possible.
Still - that was a good wee video - thanks Brant. I do like the look of this - but at £90 it's going to have to shine some.

There's an ad blocker in Chrome that's bloody brilliant. It shuts down all the crap YT slings at you ad-wise.
-
You can also use the Brave browser. It is a browser based on Chrome, with the ad blocking tools baked into it. Very nice at blocking ads.

omg - thank you so much for this. I had no idea this was about!

Thanks Tolstoi - I'll give the ad blocker on chrome a go for now

I'm glad you said that as it reminds me that I have the installer in temporary folder on my desktop. Doug recommended it to me and I had completely forgotten about it.

I switched from Firefox to Brave a while back and am quite happy with it. I also use the Adblock Plus extension with it.

NP.
There's actually two in Chrome - Fair Adblocker, and Adblocker for YouTube. I use both. The former blocks most shite on normal web pages (e.g. news sites which always seem to have 6000 ads in them), and the latter of course is super effective with YT.
