Cyrano, do you have Seth Owen's Fatal Choices? While I'm 100% down with Fletcher Pratt, Fatal Choices includes a reduced complexity version of NavTac specifically designed for WWI. NavTac itself is based on FP, but includes things like critical hits and catastrophic damage.

It also has both Coronel and Falklands scenarios in the book.

Like I said, I'm completely down with FP. NavTac might be quicker and easier for those who haven't played before, if you have those rules.

I actually don't really like games.

Just FYI, I'll be running it straight out of the Curry edition which is a re-format of the original but contains no amendments save Don Feathersone's (which I will not be using).

If you're gonna do FP, this is the version to do...

I do not own it and, unfortunately, it would seem the Kindle edition is messed up and cannot presently be sold.

That said, if I recall correctly, this one replaces the range guessing game with dice which, to me, kills the weird joy of Fletcher Pratt.  I'll still get it when it's Kindle-ready, but I really do finally want to decide if I like FP or not.

Not that I'm any kind of WWI naval gamer anyway...

I remember playing the FP rules over 50 years ago - had great fun making the ship cards  :)

FP Experts --

Table size for what will prove to be a 4-6 player battle?

15' square enough?

And approx. how many ships do you figure for each player?

Is this the Falklands? You're not actually going to try Jutland are you?

1:1200

1 per player...maybe two?

First will be a "try on the garment" where we just learn the rules.

For those conditions, that amount of space should be more than adequate. I prefer a good amount of space for maneuvering.

It'll be interesting to see how goes. Once people start to find the range in FP, things get very exciting very quickly.

Are you going to get into use of smoke and torepdoes? WWI torps aren't all that effective, but they can be fun to cause a little panic and force people maneuver.
