I like the 40K IP, have for a long time.

Can't stand the rules.

So Velker and I have made an IG and Ork team for Osprey's "Stargrave".

Always interested in a couple more.  We can figure out the stats for just about any army -- if they're necessarily more abstract.

Can't say just when we'd play, but who knows.

Anyone interested?

Lots of years ago, I remember having a copy of the Rogue Trader rule book, full of pictures of home made terrain and stuff - very early GW!

You know i once played a game of 40k Only War (D&D in 40K basically) as a guardsman who also was a turophile. Spent a whole 6 months worth of weekly D&D sessions with him carrying around a wheel of cheese he managed to make with a decent culinary skills role from a gone off pint of milk in the fridge he found in an abandonned house only it was slightly cursed because i forever rolled poorly after that and for the team to complete the mission and the inquisition to blow the planet up anyway! Unluckily he had the wheel of cheese saved in his backpack... it was the only natural thing that made it off that planet...

That character was after year of campaigning put up against a firing squad for incompetance... but convieniently the cheese sat in his bunk chest still maturing!

The game ended ages after with the ship we were on being consumed by the warp... with the DM closing with the picture of with that cheese still locked away being tainted by the warp awaiting its next victim...

I would like to join in. I tend to play Black Templars but would be happy yo play Adepta Sororitas instead. Not sure how either would workm in Stargrave

You'll get the aesthetics of the minis and a little bit of the detail, but none of the crunch that comes straight from the tangled mess that is 40k after 2e.

Stargrave is locked at 10 dudes, dudettes, synths, &c., per team.  Each has a captain and a first mate who are fleshed out based on archetypes.  Below that you can buy a few better mooks "off the shelf" or just take some of the lowest-level free ones.

My IG team has a commissar, an ogryn, a sniper, dude with flamethrower, some regular troopers, and some scrubby recruits.

What Velker and I have played of it is fast and fun.  It does NOT take itself seriously.  We've checked out none of the RPG elements yet, though likely will.

What about the slithery feeling from GW removing all the money from your wallet?

(Did I say that? That's mean. I wouldn't say that.)
