I'm surprised at the Civ look and feel to this considering it's from Paradox. I think that's smart on their part and can't wait to get my grubby paws on this.

Paradox is only the publisher on this one. It’s being developed by a group called C:/>  (C-prompt).

I never did buy Humankind. Millenia looks more gooder to me going by what I have read so far.

Loitering with intent.

Humankind sucked big, glittery Christmas tree balls. You did good to save your money. Millennia may fool me again, but I'm gonna buy it.

Hi, I'm Steelie and I'm a 4x junkie.

I agree. One major mistake Humankind made was not letting the player play the same civilization the entire game. The whole culture changing thing is nonsense. One era I'm Greek, the next I'm suddenly Aztec! It breaks immersion which is a huge no-no for me. I'm hoping Millennia gets it right.

Matter of a fact, we have two cats. And no big, glittery Christmas tree balls on low branches   8)

Millennia is out as a free demo right now. Only 60 turns worth but does give you a feel of how it’s gonna work.
Very different from Civ in my first play through. Will have to try again and read more of the infopedia for what I’m actually doing.

I’ve played it twice now. 60 turns is not a lot of time to see what’s happening in the game but it does give you a taste.
I like the expansion ideas, settlers come from culture points or you can vassalize minor city states and then make them cities in you nation.

Your borders can be expanded normally through influence, by building towns, or by building outposts. City borders don’t seem to merge to make a continuous national border but maybe just not this early in the game.

The combat pop up display is a little silly and I hope it can be turned off.

Some very cool ideas in here. :bigthumb:

I played around 20 turns or so and liked it. Totally agree about the combat pop up. Either make it optional or improve it a lot, lot more.

Look, it's Forbes.com, so don't take it too seriously. But here's someone's direct comparison with civ 6

I've read in recent posts that your faction, if you do well enough, can declare it's own victory conditions and then go for it, before the chronological end of the ages...sorta similar to what can happen in Knights of Honor 2.

Yeah, it's funny, working me would have bought this on day one. Retired, budget-conscious me has yet to pull the trigger.  ;D
I've been reading and watching reviews and it looks like it might be time to buy. I'm a bit worried that diplomacy in the game is lacking but that seems to be normal for 4x games these days. And then if I do buy, do I step up to the Expansion Pass bundle? (https://www.aarcentral.com/emoti/thinking.gif)

I still wish someone would to a Call to Power remake.  Always thought it was a lot better than Civ

I loved the "space layer" in the original Call to Power.
And good to hear from you again, ojsdad!  :applause:

Thanks.

The space level was good, but I really liked the sea/underwater development that could be done.
