Title: D-Day at Omaha
Post by: judgedredd on August 02, 2020, 03:31:32 PM
I managed to snare a pre-order from Second Chance Games on this.

I've still not managed to find a copy of Normandy '44 yet...still looking.

I like to have a collection of games that use a similar system - helps with understanding the rules.

And only today Second Chance Games in the UK put up preorders for the 3rd printing of Normandy '44

Done  :bigthumb:

Hope you don't have to wait too long for it  ;)

I notice he has 'France '40' up for pre-order as well. That has been OOP for a very long time.

I know that, mate, but as a friend, I just felt it my duty to let you know about it, since its part of the same family of games  ;)

Roger that.

I see it also made the cut on GMTs website.

No money has been taken that I can see - so no harm done. I'll continue looking for a second hand copy - but they're like rocking horse poo poo. If I do stumble across a copy, I'll cancel the pre-order.

There is a copy on sale on BGG from a guy in Spain. It was put up a month ago. They want double what it's being sold for new. I did make contact, a couple of times - but no joy. Spain has some additional spikes in Covid 19 - so I'm wary to contact again being sensitive to their current situation.

I'll keep looking.

Update on this...

Money was taken at the beginning of August.

I contacted SCG and they said they've been informed it's at the printers and so probably released around October.

I fully expect it to not arrive until Jan or Feb - so if it comes before, I'll be a happy bunny

I just bought a first edition used copy from BGG.

I like this engine, so I want the other games (well France '40 and Normandy '44 - I don't have space for Stalingrad '42)

There was a bloke selling a copy of Normandy '44 on Wargamers European Market Place a couple of days ago.

Did you add Ardennes '44 to your list - although its 2 maps of course. There is a Ukraine '43 as well :-)

I've got Ardennes '44. I wasn't sure I was particularly interested in Ukraine '43

Ardennes '44 was the two mapper I put out on my new desk to show case it's size. Still not big enough for Stalingrad '44 which I do believe i would've liked

As for Normandy '44, SCG have taken my money for a pre order...so I'll just wait patiently for that.  I haven't got Ardennes '44 out the box.  I don't even think I've punched the counters yet tbh...so I'm in no rush for Normandy. I can wait for it.

I didn't want to put another game on pre order due to my bad memory. I thought that might turn out to be a financial disaster

The system the games use is really very good.

Yeah.  I really like it which is why I wanted Normandy and France (I didn't know about France until you mentioned it...thanks bawb)

I might just pick up Ukraine '43 if I see it around on my travels

;D That I am - its like buying games by proxy!

The 2nd edition was going to cost £102 - I can't justify that if there's a first edition out there for £20.

Having said that - the 2nd edition details on GMT website said the rules were brought up to date to match Normandy and Holland....I wonder how different the rules are.

Anyway - this one is on hold for the moment.

One of my all-time favourite games, and the map is superb.
