and I love the comments about the company
OSS Games is a small company. We are composed of no full-time staff, but rather are a group of individuals who enjoy producing games in our spare time. Our MO is to produce small print-run games with consistently high production values. We try to bring you the highest quality product possible for a reasonable amount of money. We do this because we enjoy it.
That said, we are a game publisher, not a PR firm. We limit communication to essential announcements. Therefore, we will not be posting constant updates about everything little thing. Our posts will be limited to essential milestones, such as the game going to press, the receipt of press samples, or when the game begins shipping. The press process is often one of waiting punctuated by occasional back and forth on minor issues. If you don't hear from us in the updates section, this is simply because we do not have any update that changes status of the previous one.

The other day I swore I was going to stop pledging Kickstarters. That didn't last very long.

I guess my question really is, would it fit on a table?

Scroll down to near the bottom:
One large MOUNTED map board in two 22" x 34" sections
So, probably 44"/almost four feet across by 34"/almost three feet. Rather large.

Launch date is Friday, August 16th.

Looks interesting but I know nothing about the original. Was this a definitive Napolenoics game? What makes this one special / worth backing?

"definitive" is questionable, given the enormous breadth of Napoleonic games
but it was the first mass-market strat-level treatment of the entire Napoleonic wars, from end to end
Best descriptor I ever heard was "It's Third Reich for Napoleonic War fans"
-
Not definitive, no such thing, and, depending on my mood, I can prefer the designer's other strategic-level games (Napoleonic Wars, Wellington, Kutusov), but I call it classic without hesitation.
It has always been to me the kinder, gentler brother of "Empires in Arms".
The system is straight-forward and the scenarios are each a good study of the campaign in question.
The only problem, which the designer acknowledges, is that the grand campaign never quite worked. This has been one of the biggest goals of the re-design.
Very much looking forward to it. I was in when it was up for pre-order on OSS. Concerned it didn't make the minimum there and hope the KS gets this done.

I think that at the time, it was "the" grand-scope end-to-end game though, wasn't it?

I'm gonna help out with that.

It's live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warandpeacegame/mark-mclaughlins-war-and-peace
And yes, I am a backer.

I gotta say, those counters look a lot more like Soldier Kings than War & Peace
-
Yep, backed.

Funded in six hours.

Insofar as "EiA" is three years younger, yes.
Although, and I feel like I'm running down a game I love, it must again be said that the defects in the GC were found pretty quickly.

No need to thank me. :P

KS is just not my thing. I'm glad I backed the WaW 85 kickstarter, but I am not mentally predisposed to waiting 6-8 months to get my game after I paid for it.

They're great for me. The wife says, "when did you buy that?!?" and I say, "oh, like 6 to 8 months ago!". :hehe:

Not all different. I also don't do p500s.

My marshal's hat, then, is doffed to your self-restraint. I have that highly irrational fear of "but, but, what if I don't get one" with things I really want.
And some I only think I want.

Yeah, so when is Up Front supposed to get delivered, anyway?

It's not a doubters issue at all. I personally don't like waiting 6-plus months for a game I have paid upfront for. I don't do pre-orders, I don't do p-500s. I hate having my money tied up on a maybe.

Only responding to Brant's mocking my Up Front! suffering which now enters, what, it's seventh year?

$21K of $10K goal pledged and still 28 days to go. :D

And no stretch goals -- which I very much respect.
Strange to have done so well so quickly as the OSS pre-order languished for quite some time.

Shipping Update!
Yesterday I had an email exchange with the importer for War & Peace. He told me the ETA of the games to US port (Baltimore) was Feb 28. Give a week or so for customs and other import related contingencies, that should put us on time for a March ship-out.

As far as I remember, you don't get charged until the target is reached. Obviously, it will take them some time to produce the game and get it ready for shipment - THAT'S where you need to be careful. My company did a KS for a Napoleonic naval game and the supplier totally screwed us up. It took over a year to recover and send out all the orders - we lost a small fortune! The supplier got away without loss. I won't get involved with KS any more (as a buyer or a seller) but P500 seems OK - it does seem that Commands & Colors:Napoleonics Expansion 8 is taking forever but, again, you don't get charged until close to despatch.
-
Yeah, P500 won't charge you until they begin shipping.
It's technically more like P700 in that they need about 700 copies pledged, but still.
-
Got my copy yesterday. After a brief look through the box, I was very pleased with the components.

Yes, but you can't play it without getting written permission from us first ;)

Okay. :-[

Okay. :-[
Actually, you have to bring it here and then go sit outside while I inspect it to be sure it's free of the 'rona.

LICK YOUR COUNTERS!
QUICKLY!
HE'S FIXIN' TO THIEVE YOUR GAME!
After you clip the counters, of course.
On layout alone this one DEMOLISHES the original. The rule book is a pleasure.

It. Has. Arrived! Feels like there's lead in the box.
