An idea from TCT i think - at least 2 times a week i check the discussion boards and youtube for news on the games on my wishlist and any good new releases so i thought id share and update here in case in anyone is of a like mind - one thing to bear in mind, steam isnt necessarily the most upto date news platform for the game - developers open reddit pages and have discord servers for up to the minute news - im in no way contributing to the toxicity of the steam discussions were people scream murder that the dev dare update anything other than the actual shop window for the game but im not subscribing to discord or anything else to get the news - if streamers havent seen it on YT or the steam page isnt updated i dont know about it
Firstly, Falling Frontier, probably my most anticipated game and a lot of others too
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1280190/Falling_Frontier/
Conquer a vast procedurally generated star system in Falling Frontier, a sci-fi RTS where intel and logistics are decisive factors. Design ships and raid enemy supply lines, lay minefields and construct recon stations, and ambush enemy forces within asteroid fields and nebulae.
As of 25/07 it still says its due 2023, theres not much news on the steam discussion, the dev occasionally gets drawn into an argument about release date. There is more news on Discord apparently, chatter points towards early access - the Dev says he was writing his own game as of 2021 and Hooded Horse came on board and moved a lot of the goal posts so hes playing catch up - 2023? Nah
Next up is Manor Lords, possibly the most anticipated game on steam at the mo
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1363080/Manor_Lords/
Manor Lords is a medieval strategy game featuring in-depth city building, large-scale tactical battles, and complex economic and social simulations. Rule your lands as a medieval lord -- the seasons pass, the weather changes, and cities rise and fall.
Again as of 25/07, still says 2023, i missed out on the demo but am not joining the constant calls for a new one - honestly the steam discussion boards are a cesspit of entitlement and negativity, this and Falling Frontier get so much hate because theyve not been released, even accused of been vapourware. A recent YT video by a streamer with some kind of access has shown a lot of work has gone into the game since the last Dev update, a lot of changes and advancements not mentioned on Steam - but he refuses to be drawn on a release, 2023? Nah
Third - Espiocracy
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1670650/Espiocracy/
Espiocracy is an espionage grand strategy game where you lead the intelligence agency of one of 74 playable countries. Rewrite history from the shadows as you influence ideologies, stage coups, and wage proxy wars. Subterfuge takes center stage as you establish a new world order.
Great concept, great looking game - discussion died down after the game moved to a release in 2024, nothing solid anywhere or much discussion other than will there be this faction, will there be that - Mossad definitely in!
BTW all Hooded Horse so far!!
Fourth, Broken Arrow
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1604270/Broken_Arrow/
Broken Arrow is a large-scale real-time modern warfare tactics game. A unique army building system and deep units customization tools allow for endless replayability. With 200+ realistic military units and technologies, each battle is more immersive than ever before.
Absolutely loved the demo, theyre prepping a multi player beta at the moment but having server issues and then a solid release date should be more viable, at the minute its a non commital Coming Soon. If you want a snapshot of the asshats on the discussion forum the top 3 discussions right now are 'has this been abandoned?', 'its quite a joke we havent been given a release date yet', and 'Give me the source code to mod in a plane i want'
Five, Task Force Admiral - Vol.1: American Carrier Battles
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1281220/Task_Force_Admiral__Vol1_American_Carrier_Battles/
Experience the thrill of leading American aircraft carriers to victory in this innovative full 3D command simulation wargame set in the Pacific in 1942. First-person or God’s eye, you lead your fleet and planes right from the center of the battle.
Another great looking game, Coming Soon is all youll get, although IIRC theyve promised something this year but im not sure what. Dev is active over at Ye Olde Forum with his own sub forum and posts regularly and even makes alternate game recommendations - seems like a good guy, and posts almost monthly Dev diary updates on steam and over there
Six, Sea Power : Naval Combat in the Missile Age
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286220/Sea_Power__Naval_Combat_in_the_Missile_Age/
From the lead designer of Cold Waters, Sea Power lets you control NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in modern naval conflict campaigns. Use your advanced naval weaponry and sensors to respect rules of engagement and defeat the enemy forces in a tense fight for initiative and air/naval supremacy.
Very excited for this, and Staggerwing, and BH and SDR - i see you on the wanted list! Says Coming Soon, all talk on the discussion board is it wont be ready til 24/25 its that big - another receiver of the 'its never coming out' and 'has it been abandoned' discussions
I didnt realise what a mission this would be!!! Second half later today

You and I, we’re like…the same. I need Manor Lords!!

It continues to look great and can only assume it’s not too far away
-
From Broken Arrow on down your list matches mine. :bigthumb:
-
It gets weirder in a bit
-
So glad you did this always fun to see what others are excited about. Although a bit dangerous now as my wishlist has some new entries. ::)
-
‘Geek do you have any updated news on Manor Lords? I haven’t read anything new in a while.

;D youre welcome
onto the Seventh, Gilded Destiny
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2189430/Gilded_Destiny/
Gilded Destiny is a grand strategy game depicting the transformative era of the Industrial Revolution. You will take the helm of the country of your choice and transform it from a backward agrarian society to an industrial powerhouse.
Hopefully a respectable contender for the Europa Universalis or Victoria trophy - it seems to be the only one that has the ability to take a small country and take it beyond its historical limitations, very much looking forward to this. Release date is 2024, and the chat is quiet due to that, an occasional question about combat but nothing deep
Eight, Solium Infernum
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1893810/Solium_Infernum/
Take the Infernal Throne in this hellish turn-based grand strategy game. The Prince of Darkness has vanished, leaving Archfiends to conspire: muster your legions while intoning dark sorceries, devilish schemes, and machiavellian plots. Who will be the new ruler of Hell and ascend the Throne?
A remake of what i recall is one the most entertaining and intriguing games around - absolutely made for a forum PBEM game here, make allies, stab friends in the back, work your way to the top. It has a Coming Soon, and most of the chat is whining about keeping it close to the original
Nine, Worldbox God Simulator
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1206560/WorldBox__God_Simulator/
WorldBox is the ULTIMATE god simulator and sandbox game. Create your own world or destroy it using different powers. Watch civilizations grow, form kingdoms, colonize new lands and sail to far continents. Towns will rebel, empires will fall. It's your choice to help or watch them fight.
Already out on early access, pretty hard to describe. You create the world and put whoever you want in it, where you want, watch for a while, give someone a leg up, give someone a leg down, add a tech here to this faction and watch the results, or sweep them all away with a giant flood - i liken it to those guys that start a completely AI driven Civilisation game and then go on holiday and see whats left when they get back, except you get to meddle in the shenanigans of whichever race you want
Ten!! Kings Orders
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1369690/Kings_Orders/
King's Orders is a simplified historical strategy game with an important innovation. You command thy armies by sending letters with orders. Messengers with letters travel the land and can be lost or intercepted. Generals execute orders once received and send you reports the same dangerous way.
I completely missed the demo, but the game looks really interesting, you dont see the battles, or conduct them other than to send orders to generals and receive, hopefully updates from the field. Apparently is very familiar to the DOS classic Austerlitz, which is weirdly available on steam and regarded as a classic
Eleven..... Xenonauts 2 (more hooded horse)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/538030/Xenonauts_2/
Wage a global war of resistance against an alien invasion. Command turn-based tactical battles, build a network of covert bases, directly control your fighter wings, and achieve strategic victory in a simulation of asymmetric warfare against a technologically superior foe.
Out now on early access with a 25% discount with a mostly positive review range, RPS liked it very much and said it was the closest anyone will come to a spiritual successor to the original Xcom of old. Crushingly hard but laced with that one more go, one more mission feeling
Twelve - Ascent of Ashes
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2209140/Ascent_of_Ashes/
A colony sim set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia. Build and defend your base. Manage your survivors. Engage raiders, aliens, Remnant soldiers and other factions in real-time-with-pause combat. Or use stealth to outwit them. Explore the massive world. Survive at all costs
I'd say watch the videos, it looks great - Rimworld with RTS tactical battles, colony survival and good looking battles - due end of 2023, discussions are mainly around release dates and whether its woke or not(!!) - its the latest thing on steam discussions
Thats my wishlist, also includes Jagged Alliance 3 but thats out and im simply waiting for the time to get it and download it
There is also Ultimate General - American Revolution, for a while there i thought it might hit early access on July 4, things have gone quiet since the update bonanza a few weeks ago, but looking at the forum it allstill points to something happening in the next few weeks, hopefully an EA release - nothing on steam yet

‘Geek do you have any updated news on Manor Lords? I haven’t read anything new in a while.
&t=401s
This is the latest ive seen - changes to combat and settlement development and QoL tweaks
-
Solid list, 'geek. Falling Frontier and Gilded Destiny are both high up on my wishlist as well. :bigthumb:
-
Big new content update from a YTuber who is just as excited as we are for FF
Shows a lot of combat, slow and ponderous like i imagine it should be, great impacts and rail gun shots going through and out the otherside - RPG elements with crew - in terms of excitement its still everything i want it to be - it looks great - release date is still a mystery
-
Good vid, thanks 'geek!
Yeah, the slower combat and RPG aspects are definitely two of the elements of Falling Frontier that appeal to me.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9DEkaC87O9Q
Party Elite - my go to YTber for games info has signed a partnership deal with Hooded Horse - no big business shenanigans I think they’re just collaborating with him to get decent news out about upcoming games of theirs - it will be a good source for their upcoming games
-
Not much movement across the wishlist this week -
Task Force Admiral - Vol.1: American Carrier Battles
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1281220/Task_Force_Admiral__Vol1_American_Carrier_Battles/
Lots of YTbers seem to have some kind of demo - it looks likes one rolling demo which is more of a video where nothing can be actually played, and some streamers seem to have an edition where you can interact with the interface and make some rudimentary decisions - overall looking good, still no release discussion
Sea Power : Naval Combat in the Missile Age
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286220/Sea_Power__Naval_Combat_in_the_Missile_Age/
Devs have confirmed theyre aiming for a 2023 release
I did forget a game on the original list - Fragile Existence
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1672320/Fragile_Existence/
Save humanity from the brink of extinction in this sci-fi strategy game of survival. Travel among the stars to seek out resources, establish and develop colonies to sustain civilization, and grow your military might to push back against an overwhelming threat.
I would say Homeworldy but with ground combat aswell as space combat as you seek to colonise planets - looks great and is another Hooded Horse game  - 2024
Quiet everywhere else

I try and keep my updates to the steam page and YT otherwise it’ll be a rabbit hole of endless news chasing
I’m not a Twitter or Instagram user and apparently miss out on a bit plus on each games discord channel there’s multiple updates but I’m too old and tired for that shit!
There’s quite a lot of reference to the Twitter and discord pages on steam though so getting the gist of things is easy
-
theres also an hours gameplay of Esipocracy that i would highly recommend to anyone who wants to control an intelligence community and instigate shenanigans
no idea whats going on but it looks great
-
I don't use twitter of discord (except for admin meetings).

It looks great - this guy says prob still on for 2023 release but EA
-
Looks like April 2024 we can get our hands on this!
-
I’m glad that silly charade is over - the release date of the release date caused as many arguments as the actual release date discussion
Love the look of the game - everything about it - I wouldn’t bet a kidney on the release date though
