Oh, goodie! Another space-themed 4x game that takes up half a football field's worth of table space and takes 16.8 decades to set up! Sign me up! :D
-
How many DLCs? ::)
-
At least 2 so far....
:D

The real questions are, will BC get a free review copy? Will he have to ask for one or will they just send it?
-
:2funny:
???
Gods, I hope not. I have enough to deal with that I KNOW about right now...lol.
-
I'd write a review of it if it was sent to me.... just sayin'.... :D
-
I just started playing the PC this past month and I just want to know how they will fit it all in a boardgame format

I'm curious about this as well. Pulling it off is going to be a tall order, even if they do somehow employ Barthheart's physics-warping technology. :P

I can not believe the non-sense that is being discussed about a game that has not even been opened in KS yet...
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2617767/article/37211159#37211159
Could not help myself, 12 post down... can't wait for the blow back from "in the know" kids these days..... :2funny:

I haven't followed any of the Paradox board games, but figure there are two ways a Stellaris board game could go. 1) A very detailed form based game. 2) A lot of extracts, ie no ship customization but bonuses for tech researched. Same with colonizes. I'm leaning toward it being a light version of what we have on the PC.

^ Nice. I like the interlocking map tiles; a simple, yet effective, way to keep it from becoming accidentally disarranged.
I'm leaning toward it being a light version of what we have on the PC.
Agreed; I'd think it would almost have to be.

I don't think it's bad think, just what I expect.
-
Same here. There's just no way a boardgame edition could capture the complexity of the PC/console version -- at least, not unless they wanted to created a game that made Twilight Imperium look simple by comparison. :P
-
It's Stelaris. If they want to really capture the spirit of the PC game, they'll throw out the existing rules with every expansion and force you to learn an entirely new game.
-
^It's a planned expansion.
-
Well, I'm all in at $215 CAD. :bigthumb:
The campaign is already at $570k USD! :o

Not gonna lie, this looks pretty good. Still holding off for the time being, however...

Past 700k now. They're gonna top a million before the day is done without breaking a sweat. :o

The self righteous indignation and angst in the comments both on BGG and on the KS page for this game is both hilarious and sad.
:idiot2:

$1.4M and 8000+ backers... not bad for less than 24 hrs.
-
And the dice are scaring/annoying people away! :2funny: Dice = evil! How dare you put dice in a game I wanted! No rules or game play yet but I saw 4 d10 and knew the game wasn't for me.
:Loser:
-
izzat BGG or the kickstarter comments?
-
Both.
-
They have now stated that there will be no rulebook available during the campaign... and yet the "1000s" (read: 10s) of backers demanding a rulebook or they'd bail has not happened... in fact number continue to climb slowly.... :Loser:
-
Well I almost held out for two whole days before backing. ::) Sigh.

At the risk of sounding obtuse, how could it *not* include a rule/instruction book? Aren't those kinda necessary to know how to play pretty much any board-game? (I presume I'm missing something here.)
As for some of the other comments...oy. I don't think I'll ever understand some people.
-
There will be a rule book with the game. They are just not, so far, releasing any copy of it during the campaign for people to read and bitch about.
-
It would be one thing if it was a first release from a company nobody had ever heard of. But it's not like academy games doesn't have a track record of delivering really good games and generally on schedule.
-
Yeah, but it is still odd to not have a draft rulebook for a game that you have been working on for 3 years. I have no doubt about Academy being able to pull this off but it is still odd...
-
I don't know about on schedule either. I seem to recall CoH: Guadalcanal being delayed nearly a year.
-
27 hours left. There are $2.4M+ in pledges so far. :bigthumb:
I dropped my pledge because I didn't think it would get the table time for the cost... but am still waffling... :idiot2:
Now they have a super All-In pledge level at $300 USD that includes a 46"x33" game map and more minis. Shipping would be about $50 USD to the GWN. And now I'm leaning towards that. :Loser:
Help me!
-
Help me!
Sure. See attached. Not sure why you needed helps with that, though ???

I, of course, totally upgraded to the all-in-one edition. The OCD completionist in me demanded it. ::) Sigh.

In the end I didn't back it. :'(

you know you're going to kick yourself for that in 6 months, right?

It's not too late. You can still back it. >:D

Academy Games posted their own photos from their demo at Origins. Looks like it was pretty popular:

It was packed every time I went by there
-
I believe it.
I'll be curious to see how this compares to Twilight Imperium in terms of depth & complexity versus ease of setup & gameplay. it would be quite the achievement if they managed to markedly improve upon either aspect.
-
I didn't dare check, but I assume that the price is.........astronomical?

A look at the large (roll-able?) map:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/academygames/stellaris-infinite-legacy/posts/3585519
On a side note, Academy Games really need to give us backers some sort of timetable or roadmap regarding production & delivery. It's clear from the comments that people are getting impatient with the lack of info in this respect, especially since fulfillment was originally supposed to have occurred back in April.

Academy has never been good about production updates for their pre-orders
-
Is it just me or, is that NOT giant?

I suppose this is a hilariously naive comment on my part, but you'd think they'd want to improve on that. It's probably cost them a fair amount of money over the years, as I have to believe it makes people less willing to back their projects in the future.
Is it just me or, is that NOT giant?
It's decent-sized (around 9 square feet in "freedom units"), but no, it's not huge or anything.
-
In the most recent Kickstarter update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/academygames/stellaris-infinite-legacy/posts/3860207), they mention this as a by-the-by:
We hope to have the games ready to ship from the printer to our distribution centers this coming December.
So realistically, fulfillment won't begin until at least early 2024. :( But hey, at least we (finally) have an approximate ETA.

note, this is a screenshot of the front page of their site, from TODAY

Sheesh. :face: Though at this point, I can hardly say I'm surprised.
-
I'm glad this never crossed my radar. :silly:

Like I said...doesn't matter anyway, I'm overstreched on buying games ;D
I have seven backed projects still outstanding, six from Gamefound and one from Kickstarter. One of the Gamefound ones is shipping via container ship right now but it'll be weeks from delivery (Age of Comics: The Golden Years). The others are in various stages of completeness.
- ISS Vanguard Dreadnought Pledge
- Escape from New York - Not A Fool Pledge (All In)
- Purple Haze + all expansions
- Tainted Grail: Kings of Ruin - Knight of Avalon Pledge
- The Dark Quarter - The Whole Damn Agency Pledge
- Trick Shot - Painted pledge, plus two extra painted teams
- 911 Operator: The Board Game
You see, I have ZERO business getting any more games. I had zero business about a lifetime ago.

And none of those are war games! For shame! :Loser:
-
Purple Haze kind of is. It's somewhat complex, but not terribly so (I helped the dev by proofing his manuals, so I was able to read them).
The others, no, not so much ;D
I still have plenty of wargames. I'm just going for more of a narrative vibe, if possible, for a project I'm working on. :)
