A huge gap was created when the Perrys were retired. The LCS is not suited for escort duties and the Burkes are far too valuable to be "wasted" in an escort tole.

The Navy needs to get its shit together and fast-track the FFG(X) program.

Being able to Google shit better than your clients is a legit career skill.

I think they could, if they just updated the Perry design.  They may need to lengthen them some to accommodate VLS system, but would think they could have the first one under construction by end of 2019.

They have a sort list of modern designs they are looking at. Any of them would be suitable. The Navy just needs to pick one and get them building.

The idea that the LCS was a replacement for the Perrys was just dumb.

I was on a Perry class for a few months.  Nice, versatile ship.
They were great ships and could have served for a fair while longer. It's a shame we got rid of them.
