This is the new 'monster' Gettysburg game from Flying Pig;
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/329089/most-fearful-sacrifice-three-days-gettysburg.
It uses Herman Luttmanns excellent 'Blind Sword' system and the maps are the work of late, lamented, Rick Barber.
Despite the hefty price tag, I did read one or two comments about the poor quality of some of the components and low production values. This may, of course be subjective as others seem to be quite happy with the quality.
It all looks very impressive with two huge, mounted maps and large counters. Personally, I'm not a great fan of Rick Barbers map style although I appreciate that many people are. For me, they are just a bit too 'busy' but again, this is a very subjective subject. Undoubtedly, he was very talented man and responsible for the maps in many games.
I doubt very much being ever able to cough up £123 (excluding postage) for it, even if I had the room to play it. Still, it is quite interesting if only because of the Luttmann game system.

I've been trying to find out what "fifteen feet" means. I'm assuming it's 36" x 60" but can't find confirmation anywhere
-
Its 2 boards, 30" x 40" each, so full size is 60" x 40". There are several single map scenario's, apparently.

back of the box says 2 maps each approx 31 x 40, so measuring out about 40 x 62 when you put them together?

good call! I didn't go looking for threads, I just looked to see if there was an image with the box info and pulled from that, but asking dudes to actually measure the real thing is a better answer for sure
-
I think that is the same size as the OST boards. I could go measure one but I'm too lazy :-)

That saved ya 123 quid then mate ;D
or cost him £250 for a new table, or £4400 for a new extension on the house for the new table :silly:
-
JD, I would read some of the forum comments on the games BGG page.
-
Thanks Bob...but it wouldn't fit my table anyway. No point in reading anything good or bad about it. :bigthumb:
-
Oh, go on, you know you like to torture yourself ;D
The amount of time I must have spent agonising over games that I knew I could never buy for one reason or another. Its all part of the .....fun?...no,no, that cant be right.
-
Give it a day or two Bob
Hey guys - I bought the game and knocked the back wall down 😜😜

I put a link to the BGG page on at the beginning of this thread if that's any help.
And, this is it!

Just saw a note on FB to say that a Vassal mod for it will be available in a day-or-two.
-
That’s fast! Normally it takes about a year ….
-
Unless it was already in preparation prior to the game being released, which would seem to be the case.
-
My guess would be playtest version hopefully upped to release version.
-
Yes, that sound like the most likely explanation. Trust an engineer to sort out the answer.
Even a retired one ;D
