This is definitely...better. 


They're finally communicating with the players and managing the community's expectations --  two things CA should have been doing from the very start.  It doesn't undo the damage that's been done, but hopefully it signals improved communication going forward. 

Of course, this *is* coming from the DLC crew, who always seem to do a better job of things than the main team, including community engagement.  So there's zero guarantee CA won't simply bork this up with another title in the future.

I hope it runs smoother than 2. Even my new PC has problems, but, there again, I haven't really taken the time to optimise it, so it could be partly my fault. I need to but some more time into it.

Sounds like the 1.3 update *should* be out later this month.  A lot of factions and Legendary Lords from WH1 are being reworked for Immortal Empires, and the community will finally be getting new color options for the game HUD so that they're not stuck with the widely-disliked red patina.

From what I've read, WH3 actually runs slightly worse than Warhammer II right now...and I imagine that's not going to get any better once Immortal Empires is added. 

Of course, I expect optimization improvements to be a major focus as time goes by, and CA was able to speed things up significantly with Warhammer II.  So who knows what the game's performance will be like in a year or two?  At the moment, though, it doesn't appear to be that great.

I wonder what impact that will have on speed of play - in terms of FPS?

Realistically, I imagine it's going to be pretty slow, especially at first.  CA will find ways to improve performance over time, but I honestly doubt it's ever going to be that great in turns of turn-times or frame-rates.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to the the patience these days to sit and read a book while screens update. Watching a loading bar crawl along at snails pace I find to be a great off-putter.

Can't say I blame you, Bawb.  Even on my new rig, loading screen times can take a bit.

Its really bloody annoying because the game obviously has so much going for it. I may try dropping some of the setting down again, but there does come to a point where it just looks...unappealing.

Did the game run its own set up at the start where it runs snapshots of the game and works out the FPS

i THINK its warhammer - when you select graphic settings it says 'wait right there' and zooms into the map, out, in, zooms to a battle, zooms in, zooms out, another battle, more scenery - until it works out your cards best settings and then goes ta da and sets everything within a custom setting - then again this might be Eugen stuff, im getting old

i had to google, flat platform outside your window today because id forgotten the word balcony - for a million pounds i couldnt remember balcony
