There's a decent point to point game that's pretty low complexity from phalanx games called, shockingly, The First World War

Can't go wrong with Racier. Looks like a simpler version of Paths of Glory.

Maybe...it’s actually why I was on the Columbia website but surprisingly they have no block games covering the war.

This series is hard to beat, and its not at all complex.

Kind of.  No cards, but there are some event counters.  The various fronts make it easy to play multiplayer.  Can easily finish in one sitting.  Analysis paralysis sets in if you've got a player that over-obsesses over the possibility of dummy units / counterintel in front of him, but otherwise pretty streamlined.

You kind of need to house-rule the Russians leaving the fight tho, or it can be a little to easy for them to bail on the war, even if they're doing really well.

If you like Axis & Allies, there's a version of WW1 for that, and it's rated fairly high.

Is that considered low complexity.

Here at ACD, we all pee the same color.

I have a long standing aversion to anything axis and allies...I understand why some people really enjoy the game but it’s not for me.

It's not a bad way to introduce people to the hobby. It was my gateway game to groggier things.

The problem with A&A is that once you know the game, you pretty much always make the same series of moves and it becomes a dice off. With the original game, it got to the point that after 1-2 turns we knew who was going to win based on the outcome of a few key battles.

I wish the quartermaster general series played better with lower player counts.

Or The Lamps are Going Out was in print.
