Anyone have this? What's it like?
-
Very tank centric squad level game. Infantry is not really well presented. Decent game if you want to to big WWII tank battles.

if you want to to big WWII tank battles.
And c'mon - who doesn't want to do that?!? :groovy:

An I right in thinking MBT is even more tank centric?
Anyone care to say which they prefer and why?
I had MBT years ago before I was into board games and it was far too complicated for me...but that's just because I wasn't into games so I wasn't ready for that kind of challenge
-
I have looked at it in the past, and if you want a pretty detailed tank on tank game, then fine. Personally, I find that T-v-T combat works well, and is a lot more straightforward, in OST, BoB and the Assault games. I think that the combat results in those games are just as valid. Depends on what level of difficulty you want, I guess.
As ever, that's just my opinion and its all subjective, innit :-)

I've never played Panzer, but I have MBT. My understanding is that it's basically the same system - MBT is just 1980s-era combat. (I always want to say "modern," but that's 40 years ago!)

Thanks bob.
My basic understanding is that there's different calculations for different areas of contact. You have a point about TvT combat in other games being legit...just the complexity of it.
I think I might get MBT. I had it years ago and was disappointed I never gave it a go.
I'll stick it on my wish list. It's not like I'm going to be finished with Red Strike or Pacific War anytime soon...there's gaming there to see me through to the pearly gates. ;D

Are we really sure that's where boardgamers go?

lol - JD being 'economical' about his un-played games list again.............................. ;D

I think I have about 60 games and I've played about 1/3rd of them. I don't think that's bad given the shelves I see for people like Moe, ZillaBlitz and The Players Aid.
-
61, actually, since I've got your copy of 'The Deadly Woods' here on loan :-)

Loan, I think ???

Loan, I think ???
How did it play?

Its actually very good. Only played the first few turns so far, but its extremely good for a bulge game, even more so for a one-mapper.

Just curious, is this an update of the old Yaquinto game Panzer, or is it its own critter?
-
Update.

Loan, I think ???
If you're enjoying it and you think it's a game you would get out and play in the future, then you can keep it Bawb. I have 3 other bulge games to crack on with.
