Leaving aside the big game(s) for the nonce, who's in for tomorrow?

Depends on the timing - bearing in mind I'm 5 hours in front of most of y'all  :(

Its probably Vance's fault, but I'm just not sure how.

Around what time are you guys aiming to start? I've familiarized myself with altar of freedom, but if you guys want to play something else then with a tad of heads up I'll do my reading up.

Goal is usually 1900 CST.  Are we Steam friends?  If not, please make that so as it makes inviting much easier.  I’m one of a billion Cyranos, but the only one with von Reisswitz as an avatar.

As for game, would that we had a capacity to plan better but we do not...I have learned this...always depends on who shows ‘round.

I have a LOT of games in the hopper...and not all of them are C&C:Napoleonics.

Bob:  there is a STRONG desire to do a special noon game (CST) to get you on board.

Jim, I should add that we will be out and about a bit over the next few days with the Grandkids etc.Just give me a nudge and I'll do my best to fit in and make the times as convenient as possible for the rest of you.

Yup, added on Steam, and that's okay with me always up for something new.

This was a fun one.

Thanks, Zeke for playing.

We liked it so much we finished it earlier this afternoon.

I think - despite the inconclusive ending - that this was a better showing for Blucher than the Aspern-Essling game. There was a lot of maneuver in this, and the Austrians probably made a good choice about not defending too far forward. If I could wish for anything, it would be more FoW in the system; I think the fact that everything is at least somewhat visible leads to a level of caution that might not be historically accurate. That probably matters a lot more in a meeting engagement like this than in a set piece battle.

Of course, adding more FoW would complicate and lengthen the game, and that counter to what Blucher is all about. Overall, Blucher really is quickly becoming my go-to system for Napoleonic miniature gaming.

Definitely agree with you. I think it is fine as is, but i think it certainly could be considered to have reinforcements under that sort of 'blind' box that hides our dice. If I had no idea how big Davout's command was I wouldve been more likely to press my troops forward.

In Hundred Days 20 by Victory point games, decoy units come in face down along with the reinforcements, and wouldn't be revealed until within LOC.  Maybe something similar would be fun? Enjoying playing the system either way but I am always up for increased fog of war.

Yes, something like the decoys in the Napoleon 20 system are probably a good idea here. We don't want to make thing too cumbersome, but your observation about not committing troops that you might have is spot on.

There are mechanisms to be sure, but the real way to do this, of course, is the MP KS that "Snappy Nappy" allows.

Which is the "Flight of the Eagle" KS with minis.

Which is why we're doin' it :).

None of these systems I've been poking at really do good FoW without another table or two.  I was quite surprised to discover how quickly the cards get revealed in "Blucher".  Honestly, I'm almost of the mind that they're not worth the bother.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really like a number of them (Blucher is presently at the top along side C&C which is an entirely different game), but FoW is something best sought in the arms of Von Reisswitz.
