Commands and Colors: Napoleonics -- Expansion VIII has whisked past Mystery Wizard on GMT's P500.
Should be shoved into the "Made the Cut" queue in only a day or so.
-
Four hundred and ninety-four as of today.
Seriously, people?
GAH!!!
-
Made the Cut.
About time.
And this from the e-mail:
“We have numerous games in the pre-production queue and generally assign an exact charge date for each P500 game as they near 700 orders.”
The death of VPG is getting tougher to take every day.

So Cyrano, when's your review of Mystery Wizard hitting the site?
BGG rates it as a 10 (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/261238/mystery-wizard)!

I can't shake the feeling that MW is some kind of massive prank that GMT is perpetrating.

I was scratching my head over the blurb by Volko, until I saw who the designer was.
-
I really don’t get the seeming visceral reaction to the very notion people who like to play and even design war games may also have an expansive enough gaming pallet to enjoy other genres or themes too.
-
I do play other genres and themes. But also have limits to what I can take.
-
I’m sure glad I’m not a game publisher or developer. Yes your catalog is 99% war games but whoa that 1% is going to lead to the end of your wargame development and the end times!
I understand everyone has preferences and limits to what they want to play. I do too. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky to have the opportunity to be selective in our hobby and choose what we buy or don’t.
Anyway ever since I’ve gone on a game buying hiatus things like this don’t raise my blood pressure. I’m just excited I’ll get a new Stalingrad 43 game from one of my favorite game series and designers at some point if I want to buy it.

It's called ball busting. I don't really care what they publish. I have plenty of "real wargames".
-
I get it. Honestly, I’m just in a mood. So take what I say with a grain of salt. I just don’t understand the sky is falling worry sometimes.

Wargamers are a bunch of bitter Old Hens.

They made a game out of that, too

Bison, this sniping has been a problem from the beginning..
Avalon Hill was often castigated for it's non wargames. Some were weird, like Squander and Shakespeare, and others, like The Travels of St. Paul, were aimed at a different niche audience. Hard core gamers screamed at the waste of time and effort put into these "other" games.
All told, they paid the bills. Tom Shaw was the office manager and answered questions politely but clearly that AH couldn't survive on war games alone.
-
I actually enjoyed AH's Lie, Cheat, and Steal
I should've been a politician
