The only one from the series that I enjoyed more is 'Normandy '44', although I admit I have not played the Stalingrad one as its too big for the gaming space I have.

Ardennes '44 is also good but I have only played it a little on Vassal.

Currently playing Normandy '44 via Vassal with my group of grogs. We're enjoying it, but it's going kind of slow with everyone learning it at once (we're using the 4-player rules), only getting a turn in each night we play. And the Allies are kicking the Germans around like nothing else...

Are the other games in the series similar enough that it's easy to move from one to the other? We're enjoying this quite a bit, but I think we all kind of prefer Breakout Normandy, so I'm kind of curious if one of the others that lacks that competition might be a better choice for us.

There's a whole family of these with Mark's engine as the core of the game

France '40
Normandy '44
Stalingrad '42
etc

They're known as the '4X series b/c they all have a 1940-something date in the title (not b/c they are "4x" games)

They're a very well-regarded part of GMT's portfolio

I've only played Ardennes '44 and Holland '44 but my understanding is that the core set of rules is just about the same with each game having a number of rule unique to that game/battle. I found playing these two games to be comfortably similar in the core rules and enjoyed the game specific rules that gave them each a unique feel.

Good to know! Once we've got Normandy down, we'll have to explore some of the others!
