Title: Monty's Gamble from MMP
Post by: bayonetbrant on November 05, 2021, 09:54:16 AM
(I'm opening up threads for pretty much all the games I've gotten recently)

Yes, Bawb, it's the one with the Holland 1940 expansion in it.

I've only played 2-3 Market-Garden games in my life (although one of them was Storm over Arnhem, a bunch of times)

So I know a bunch about the conflict, and met a few people who fought in it.  But haven't gamed it too much.  Heck, I even sent one of the games I did have on it to Bawb a while back (dunno if he ever got around to playing it, either)

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Interested in this, as well. Though, I have Hell's Highway and Holland '44 already. Market-Garden is a very interesting battle for me.

Thanks, Brant  :bigthumb:

Yep, played 'Hells Highway' and 'Holland '44' and before those the old monster SPI 'Highway to The Reich'. More recently, I've had a go at the 'Market Garden' game that JD passed on to me published by the Polish chaps.

Out of all those, I would say 'Holland '44' is the one I liked most.

Did I send over that MMP envelope game?

Yes indeed you did and I did play about with it. In fact, I'm just about to send off to JD for him to have a look at since he is very much into the campaign.

Whilst I appreciate the thought - I do like a good Market Garden game - that does not look like it would scratch my itch. I'm into more middle of the road complexity. The size of that map freaks me out for a Market Garden game  :2funny:

But thank you for the thought  :notworthy: :bigthumb:

Hey, I have a copy of that as well! I got it a few years ago but don't think I ever got around to playing it.  :-[

Honestly, I'm sure - and I do very much appreciate the sentiment. It's just I like games with options for manoeuvre...trying to break through and get round on flanks...stuff like that.

Thank you very much though...I hate to come across as ungrateful. I don't mean to but I doubt I'd give it any time.
