I forgot that this is supposed to release very, very soon. For some reason I feel very apprehensive about that.

Rob has started a LP of the release version:

Does anyone know if you can customize the eras you play through? If I want the medieval era to be my ultimate era, can I do that?

I've not gotten that impression, no.  But then, I've not been following the game as closely as some of the folks here, so take my words with a grain of salt.

Not gonna watch that… I want to discover things on my own…. most of the fun of these types of games.

It installs and actually runs on my PC now so that's a plus. I haven't spent much time with because when it comes to knowing what I'm actually doing I'm as lost as a meeple in a wargame.

Fair enough.  (Although honestly, that would be different from first playing any other 4x title how...? :P

Explorminate's review gives Humankind quite a bit of love as well:

It's perhaps worth noting that the review *isn't* written by Rob, who's an admitted Amplitude fanboy.  He does add his own thoughts at the end, but it appears Steve honestly enjoys the game as well.

Somewhere, somehow, I woke up in the wrong timeline. I'm pretty sure this isn't even my dimension.

It’s not at the top of my purchase list, stellaris dlc and Elysium coming first but im struggling with something after reading the reviews

In Civ I am Caesar, I am pharaoh and whilst not deeply RPG and immersive I still like to think in diplomacy and war ‘yeah that’s right, im frikking XXXX you’d better run’

But there doesn’t seem to be that fixed foundation here, I’m rome, then I’m Egypt, then I’m England - and I don’t think I like that

That was a funny release video...

I haven't really paid attention to this - so what's the low down? It looks like Civ to me. What are the specific differences?
