Scotland v England

Scottish pieces are
Knights - WIlliam Wallace
Bishops - John Knox
King - Robert the Bruce
Queen - Mary Queen of Scots
Pawns have a wee belt and thistle and Rooks have a slanted roof (because it rains so much in Scotland)

English pieces are
Knights - Sir Francis Drake
Bishops - Thomas Becket
King - Edward VIII
Queen - Elizabeth I
Pawns have the English Rose and Rooks have a flat roof because it's sunny doon here!

I was wondering if Charles VI/I was going to be in there somewhere, and which side ;D

That is really nice. I have an old traditional set, and a small wooden travelling set, the box folding out to form the board.

Thanks. I bought the pieces off eBay and then had a panic because I realised the size of them...they're 4cm wide!

So I had to find a big enough board.

Very cool, judgedredd!  A bit of an odd choice for the English king, but otherwise I freely admit to a little bit of envy.  :bigthumb:

Agreed. The timeline is all over the place - but it was a nice set so I cut them some slack. Besides - I'll only play as the Scottish and I can't wait for William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots to go rampaging through those English fannies  :2funny:

"Rampaging through English fannies" would be a great GMT title.

I'm suddenly worried I already knew what the slang meant to Brits, yet Vance did not.  :-\  Aren't all Commonwealth peoples required to keep up with the lingo?
