OK, so who's writing the overview article(s) on the classic game sites available and the best ways to use them?

I just had to look up the C64 Mini - 80 bucks on Amazon (US). I looked up the games and can't say I'm familiar with more than 20% of them - mostly the Games series (Summer Games II, Winter Games, etc.). Disappointed there aren't any strategy titles like the Conflict series (Decision in the Desert, Crusade in Europe, etc.), but I get that would be maybe esoteric for a general audience.

I'd LOVE to see an Apple IIc emulator like this C64 Mini - an actual console, not a software emulator program.

One of the big complaints has indeed been the few good games already on the Mini. I think the manufacturers could only secure the rights to a few A-list games and filled the roster out with some forgotten stuff. They couldn't put in games they didn't have the rights to ( and many of the rights-holders' identities have gotten lost due to so many mergers and bankruptcies over the years) so they are probably hoping that the the ability to load your own games will be the big selling point. You can do the same thing with a Raspberry Pi single-board computer running a C-64 emulator but it takes a lot of work and you probably won't save very much if you include having to buy a quality retro joystick and ordering a 3D printed custom case from Shapeworks or some other print-on-demand fabricator.

Just in case, was there an 8-bit precursor to Panthers in the Fog?

Tried playing a bit of Crusade in Europe yesterday after I got home, but the controls had me stymied. The text file is no help, it's more of a long treatise on the programming code used in the game and pretty damned boring.

Must I do everything around here?

Oh! And F15 Strike Eagle!

I used to connect up a second monitor and kybd and my brother and I would play that game together. One planned the mission and flew the plane the other handled weapons systems. Loads of hours wasted fun.

IIRC, back in 1993 you could LAN play Spectrum HoloByte's Falcon 3.0 with Hornet and MiG-29.
