Very cool, looking forward to the pictures. My little guy is just starting to get into matchbox cars and tracks. I'll be curious if he ever shows an interest in slot cars.

Wow, I didn't know that slot car/racing was even still a thing.  That's awesome, Bison!  Hope you and the boys have fun. 

Oh it's still a thing and it has a pretty dedicated hobbyist community and is have a bit of a resurgent with 1/24th slot clubs.

Sounds like an opportunity to me for future bonding time. The Carrera First sets are battery-powered small sets designed for 3+.

I think you should take a peek to ensure all is in order. Just think of the disappointment on the day if there was something missing or not functioning

I guess colour and some counter as they go over the line? No idea.

I'm not sure there's any skill there. If the cars (and I'm not sure they were cars) stay on the track regardless,  what's the point? With slot cars (Scalextric we refer to it as) you had to adjust your speed going round some bends

Yes, it does seem from that film that there is not much of a need for any skill, which seems to distract from the fun of it.

They are controlling the speed but that particular race appears to focus on the building of the 1/24th car.
