Apparently I have the Homeworld Remastered Collection...no idea if that's 1 or 2 or both or what  :groovy: ;D

In any case, my son and I saw this on the game awards last night, along with a few other good-looking games (such as Star Trek Resurgence and Star Wars Eclipse, though I think both are Telltale type games, so we'll see).

I think that the remastered version is classed as II.

I bought Homeworld Remastered I think - if I did play it, it was for a very short period of time. I assume that was a big hit with you lot?

For all that I'm generally not a big fan of straight RTS games, Homeworld is...different.  Special, even.  I didn't even play that much of the original game back when I owned it, but I still recognized there was something unique about it.

As for specifics...  Despite being real-time, combat tends to be more tactical (due to taking place in a full 3D environment), and less of a twitch-fest.  The visuals and artwork are stunning.  The storyline is well done.  The music is amazing.  It has brought people to tears; how many strategy games (or even games in general) can say that?

Admittedly, I suspect Homeworld wouldn't have the same effect on most of us now, compared to what it might have two decades ago.  Either way, though, the game definitely left its mark.

The game's release has been pushed back to next year:

Perfect.  Gives me (more) time to play the games I'm already way behind on.  :P

Another of those stunning looking games that I somehow never got the hang of. <sigh>.

If it's any comfort, Bawb, I never fully did either.  I did have fun stumbling around trying to figure it out, though.  ;D

Sounds about right. More annoying was the fact that I have a buddy who mastered it with seeming easy.

The original game was absolutely groundbreaking when it came out. I don't think anyone else has done proper, full 3D RTS in space anywhere near as well as Homeworld did.

Needless to say I loved it, but to my shame I never played the sequel. And to my further shame I have the remastered collection in my library and I've put....er, two hours into it. I need to get working on that.

I loved the story the concept and the graphics and sound but not the combat

There never appeared to be anything I could do other than have more guys than them and hope for the best

But in some scenarios there was a hard ceiling of units you could build and I could never win - this was the first time it came out mind - my younger mind may have not grasped something obvious

All true Geek, I definitely replayed some missions from that first campaign. It was not easy.
