I keep wanting to play this, but every time I get some free time, my wife insists we play Baldur's Gate. :)

I picked this up in the winter sale on Steam, it's a pretty good recreation of the original board wargame. The UI is a little different and there is no AI for the grand campaign but there is for the smaller scenarios.

I played through a couple of turns and rounds of the 1800 Marengo scenario as the French (the scenarios or a few of them have an AI) and here are some screenshots:

The loading screen.

Zoomed out situation at start.

Zoomed in and with a hex selected.

Reinforcements.

Some movement to potentially do.

A not great odds attack.

The results.

The next turn.

New starting positions.

The events (a place where you can see what just happened in the previous battles and th whole game).

Final positions at the end of the last turn I just did.

You should be able to click on an image to make it a bit larger.

I keep trying to talk myself into that one but I also just picked up Labyrinth on the winter sale so I think I'm probably covered for a little bit

Got you on your game (not sure what Layberneith is about, but I get you) I got W&P for like 10 off or 15 off or something during the sale.

I also used to play the AH board wargame back in the 80s but I forgotten all the rules lol. The game comes with rules of one of the versions of W&P.

Thanks for the tip of the hat on the screen walkthroughs.

I agree, great pics. I'm glad there's now an AI Opponent to play against in some of the scenarios. On my Wishlist.  :bigthumb:

I talked my brother (original opponent for the boardgame) into buying this W&P, too. We found that it's very slow to play head-to-head with this electronic version. It seems to assume that you want to play asynchronously, a la PBEM.
 - I play part of a turn, then save & close the game.
 - Opponent opens the game, reacts, then saves & closes the game.
 - I play more of the turn, save & close.
 -  repeat.

Not at all the thing to play in one sitting, IMO.

That sounds like the way the old AGEOD games played in 'Hotseat' mode. Not really 'Hotseat' but a workaround I guess.

It reminds me of how Axis & Allies plays on Steam, though that can also be played in one sitting.
