In this talk we will discuss the wide range of disease response games, including pandemic games, how they can be used by the medical community, and how we design them. We will emphasize the interaction between the medical and epidemiological biology of disease and game design, and the role of epidemic models and modeling in game design. We will use examples of disease response games to illustrate our points. Gaming disease can help prepare the whole of government to approach problems that combine science, statistics, and human behavior, all of which are difficult to effectively integrate into real-time, professional, games.
