Hello Friends of Kriegsspiel!

The International Kriegsspiel Society is holding a major event on August 28, set to be one of the largest KS games in history, played live, real-time, online. We are using TTS and Discord for everything.

The player slots are filled, and have been since June. Nonetheless, we could use some people willing to assist the master umpires running the event. Anyone who agrees to assist will be taught the system we are using, although knowledge of that is not required to help out. Training takes literally 10 minutes.

We are holding a "prelude" event this Saturday, August 14, 2021 @ 8 AM Pacific. 9 Mountain, 10 Central, 11, Eastern, 4 PM GMT. If you are interested in becoming part of this massive, and growing community, now is a great time to get in. The event is "Grand Gettysburg." It is a fictional battle, taking place on the historic map, with several interesting twists. Most of the players are remarkably well-trained by this time, and they know their stuff.

Join the Discord and let us know you are from the Armchair Dragoons community. We will make sure you have a great time. We are running a lot of events, with weekly games, and you are welcome to join them. We also have some campaign events in the works after our big event on August 28. See you there!

Little reminder: Whoever wants to help assisting the umpires by reporting to players and taking their orders (no rules system knowledge needed) for GG21 would be super appreciated. On saturday is Open Game session where anybody can just jump in and play or learn umpiring!

I played one live Kriegsspiel during the June ACDC Convention and it was a blast. A very different experience from Jim's KS-via-email. (Both are fun and challenging--just in different ways.)

I'm signed up for the August 28th event and can't wait!

I've played PBEM Kriegsspiele before, as well, and got hooked by the Lynchburg game during ACDC for live sessions, too. Awesome stuff to mix in, if you got a few spare hours on saturdays!  :)

Open Game on staturdays is always at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT / 4 PM GMT / 5 PM CEST.

Some shots and orders from the Confederate Cavalry Division perspective:

Near the top of the article I also have the link to the YouTube video from the umpires table with announcers.

The question is not if we can take it.
The question is how much will it cost?

Tomorrow, 3pm CET, the International Kriegsspiel Society runs GRAND ANTIETAM!

I've been invited by George Phillies to write an introductory article on Kriegsspiel and the IKS for the Avalon Hill International Kriegsspiel Society (AHIKS)'s Kommandeur magazine. The AHIKS is the oldest and largest board wargaming society. Check them out!
