That is absolutely an enormous challenge in the online convention space, and there's no good way to overcome that.

A lot of my zoom and discord time is because of changed work conditions.  I think online conventions might become more appealing once I get back to normal work conditions.

Stanford: 'Zoom fatigue' is real and now we know what causes it

"Researchers say Zoom fatigue comes down to four primary causes: excessive and intense eye contact, constantly watching video of yourself, the limited mobility of being stuck at your desk and more energy spent identifying social cues you'd pick up on intuitively during in-person interactions."

Huh. And I thought it was the soul-sucking lifelessness of being trapped in a virtual space full of people whose family trees don't branch, that you can neither interrupt with common sense and intelligence nor leave without drawing attention to your obvious disdain at their idiocy.

Finally got to listen to this one and really enjoyed it.  You can count me as one of the RPG/Wargame enjoying crossovers. I think the closet I get to RPGs in wargames is what Mike was talking about when soloing and trying to make decisions based on what a side would have historically been more likely to do. Also, the discussion with Ardwulf about domain management games intrigues me.

During they heyday of 3.5 nostalgia got the better of me and I purchased the Player, DM, and Monster manuals for 1st and 2nd edition as well as some additional supplemental books on Amazon for under $4 each plus shipping.  I had no idea that they had ballooned in price by so much until I listened to the most recent podcast.

Collectors have certainly driven up the price on a number of AD&D books. However, the core book and modules print on demand (PoD) from DM's Guild are very nice and affordable. In fact, other than a few of the older books not yet available for PoD I exclusively use the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guild, Monster Manuel, and Fiend Folio at the table.

Ya, I'm debating whether or not to sell the hard copies, buy the PoD versions, and pocket the proceeds.

I like having the originals. Personally, I would keep them. Maybe they go up more or if not you still have a sweet copy of the originals. :D But I do understand the need for money or just wanted to minimize the collection to it streamlined.

Good luck making a hard decision. At least, I know it would be hard for me.

I could never imagine giving up my sourcebooks, especially D&D.  The very notion is anathema to me.
