Another insanely-completist post.  Bravo!  :reckon:

The only correction.

This one
Maneuver (1979)

should be this one
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17396/manoeuvre

from Jeff Horger

Thanks! I corrected it. The wonderful part about making these lists is learning about all these interesting games. I had not heard of Maneuver from 1979, nor was I aware of Manoeuvre from 2008. Manoeuvre from GMT looks good, I can see why it is on your shelf.

Mentioned in Dispatches Season 5 Episode 14
So, A Kriegsspiel Happened

Okay, this listener's guide for the final episode of season five is short, very short. There were no books or articles discussed and only one rule set, though I'm going to list two for those who are interested. I'm also not going to reproduce many of the links that Brant provided in his post for this episode, so if for some reason you haven't seen those links, (maybe all you RSS feed listeners?), you can find them here.

James brings up Roll20 near the end of the discussion. I hope their experiment works.  :)

Here's the list, don't blink!

Le Vol de l'Aigle (2005) - this is the rule set Cyrano discusses the most.

The von Reisswitz Kriegsspiel: The Prussian Army Wargame (1824) The von Reisswitz Kriegsspiel: The Prussian Army Wargame (1824) - this is the set that is mentioned in passing.

Southern California Kriegsspiel Society - This is their Fb group

Dragon' Up the Past vidoes - This goes to the GrogHeads Gaming YouTube playlist for all 17 videos.

And that's it. Looking forward to season six!  :bigthumb:

Show notes for MiD: Season 5 Episode 7, Oct 23rd, 2020
[ ... ]
The program Battleground was discussed. This was broadcast in 1978 and hosted by Edward Woodward. There were six episodes produced, of which I can find only one in pristine condition. If you search online you can find a couple others. I've shared this before and I'll share it again, Battleground: Gettysburg

Thanks for this! An afternoon with Edward Woodward is an afternoon well spent. (I watched the four episodes I could find on YouTube.)

(And yes, I'm way behind in podcasts, since I stopped commuting.)

Great episode! Love kriegsspiel tales. Players approach things so much differently with a level of fog of war that approaches the realistic.

A few years ago, I (a lunatic) umpired a 24-player Vol de l'Aigle PBEM campaign using the 1805 Ulm campaign scenario with a bunch of players in the Northern Virginia area, including notable gents like Peter Perla (Bellegarde) and Jim Lacey (Soult). I woefully underestimated the amount of work to choreograph on a nightly basis. But we muddled through, with a player here or there dropping out. Learned a lot for the next go 'round, whenever I am feeling particularly masochistic....

Campaign surprisingly played out along historical lines, with the Russians still marchly slowly west while the Austrians were defeated in detail. Episode makes me want to find another one soon to play in.

I could talk on modding for days. Started doing it in the very early 80s before it had a name. Did a ton of stuff for Red Baron and still mod stuff to this day.  :bigthumb:

Yes, but you were otherwise engaged or I would have reached out about joining the podcast. As it was, we did give you a shout out in the episode

Mentioned in Dispatches Season 6 Episode 1
Season 6 Premiere! - Game Mods

Hello and welcome to your listener’s guide for Season Six! I’m looking forward to all the interesting topics and learning more about the hobby we enjoy.

My knowledge about wargaming is limited. I knew this before I started creating these guides and at the end of season 5, I was reminded how little I knew, yet how much I learned along the way. My knowledge and experience with modding games is even more limited, so there might be more mistakes in this listener’s guide than usual. Please let me know when I linked to an incorrect game, company, or website.

I discovered trying to find many of these mods was difficult, (I’m looking at you Full Canvas Jacket for Red Barron). I decided not to link to all the mods that are discussed. Instead, I will provide links to the games discussed and you can then search for those mods if you are interested. If you find cool mods, please add them to the forum.

I don’t use Facebook, so I didn’t think it was worth it to post a link to Gary Krockover’s Wargame Artwork Group that leads to a page stating, “This is a private group”. If you are interested, you can Google it.

I didn’t find the Red Barron Full Canvas Jack Mod Set. I found people discussing it in forums, but nothing concrete about the mod itself. If you know where it might be, please share.

Unlike other wargame magazines from the past, finding copies of Fire and Movement online is difficult. I didn’t find the article that Brant mentioned by John Compton.

Please note, the link to the Flashpoint: Central Front variant, leads to the file section of Flashpoint: Golan – The Fifth Arab-Israeli War game. Brant provided that link on the podcast page, thank you!

With that, here’s the guide!

if it was in the context of the Modern Battles Quads then it's these:

Thank you! I up dated the guide. I have a link to the Modern Battles: Four Contemporary Conflicts (1975) game; however, I like drawing attention to each individual game. Much appreciated.  :bigthumb:

Mentioned in Dispatches Season 6 Episode 2
Online Napoleonicisms

Greetings and welcome to episode two of Mentioned in Dispatches for season six.

As usual, there is a lot discussed in this episode. I focused on listing the information I found to be most relevant to the conversation. This means I didn’t list every game. I know, shocking!  :o  For example, I’m not including Dungeons and Dragons, nor am I including Shores of Tripoli or Advanced Squad Leader. Cyrano also mentioned LittleWars TV’s 1809 campaign and I wonder if he meant their 5 table Marengo Wargame?

There are a lot of videos discussed in this episode. Instead of embedding them into the list, I’m providing links to most of them. Be sure to watch the video from The Battle of Austerlitz III for "Blucher" at the very end. I can't embed the video to start at the specific time I want, so I provide you a link to the correct point in the video when the Russian artillery make the Czar oh so proud!  :)

As usual, if you spot an error, let me know so I can correct it, and if you think something is missing, please add it to the forum.
