Title: Cyberpunk 2077
Post by: bayonetbrant on November 14, 2020, 09:06:24 PM
I know a lot of people are eager to get their hands on the video game.

some don't even realize it's based on a 30-year-old TTRPG

here's an interesting article about the original creator, Mike Pondsmith

I don’t think there’s an issue with the PC version

Damn, what a shit-show.  I feel bad for both the players and the developers.

My son broke down and bought it for Steam a few weeks ago. Said he hasn't had any problems with it though he did need to employ a fix/patch he read about online, to remove glitching.

Good review/article.  This passage in particular stuck out for me:

Quote
I wanted to love this game. I really did. I've been waiting decades for someone to take my teenage techno-dystopian fantasies and turn them into something I could play around in. But names and labels aside, this ain't that. It's all surface, no depth. All signal, no content.

Jerry Holkins (Tycho from Penny Arcade) made similar comments.  He did play all the way through the game, but admitted/implied it was more due to stubborn bloody-mindedness (https://www.penny-arcade.com/news/post/2020/12/21/cyberpunk-3) than because of any rational reason.

I'm enjoying it. Some graphical glitches - but nothing drastic and no game breaking moments - yet
