The Saracen was one of a number of vehicles built by Alvis using a common chassis. They were very successful and used by several armies around the world.

Also the Saracen was affectionately named "The Pig" because it was a pig to drive.

Including this beast which to my eternal regret did not get to drive

I always wondered what the point of the hovercraft was - for passenger travel. From what I recall, it wasn't that much faster cross channel (seems it could get up to 70 knots!) and it cost a fair whack. More comfortable?

Given that thing's size, wouldn't your pool probably fit in the cargo bay?

I think my whole house would fit in that thing's cargo bay.

Other concerns about the Australian Army's largest project to date include the CRV fleet only being able to fire German-made ammunition and requiring bespoke European-produced tyres.

Snicker.
