8:30 a.m., Doubleday flukes out for a 2nd time and calls off his attack. At this point only Ricketts of Hooker's division is still attacking. Meade's division has been so badly cut up that it won't be committed again today. Doubleday's division is hurt, but still combat effective. Hooker will likely send him in again.
Mansfield's 12th Corps presses forward, the dunker church seems within reach. His corps is strong but its significant portion of green troops are fragile.
2nd Corps continues crossing at the Upper bridge, it will be some time probably almost 2 hours before they are in position to attack.
Stuart pulls his few remaining artillery pieces off of Nicodemus Hill. The CSA line around the dunker church is extremely weak except for Hood who remains fresh. Jackson is just waiting for the right time to send him in.
