8:30 a.m., Doubleday flukes out for a 2nd time and calls off his attack. At this point only Ricketts of Hooker's division is still attacking. Meade's division has been so badly cut up that it won't be committed again today. Doubleday's division is hurt, but still combat effective. Hooker will likely send him in again.

Mansfield's 12th Corps presses forward, the dunker church seems within reach. His corps is strong but its significant portion of green troops are fragile.

2nd Corps continues crossing at the Upper bridge, it will be some time probably almost 2 hours before they are in position to attack.

Stuart pulls his few remaining artillery pieces off of Nicodemus Hill. The CSA line around the dunker church is extremely weak except for Hood who remains fresh. Jackson is just waiting for the right time to send him in.

The event is always held the first Saturday in December because it provides a maximum amount of darkness and the battlefield leases about half the park to local farmers. The later start gives them time to clear their crops.

Doubleday breaks into the West Woods and Nicodemus Hill, driving back the cavalry who at best can only slow him a bit. If he can push forward just a bit more the Union will have a forward position to place artillery.

Mansfield's attack is being torn apart by the confederate artillery line at the dunker church and plateau next to. The Texas brigade is being swallowed up in his advance but the Union have been unable to make a breakthrough.

Sumner is about halfway deployed, will be probably an hour before he goes in.

Game time is 10:00 a.m.

Hooker has taken Nicodemus Hill but his attack has fizzled out. 12th Corps is also out of steam.

Sumner's 1st brigade under Howard approaches the sunken road position to begin the assault.

Franklin's corps is under orders to begin crossing the middle bridge to support.

Howard's brigade smashes the sunken road position wide open. But, then in an unfortunate twist, Sedgwick's division flukes, meaning Howard's brigade has to pull back. Kershaw fills in the position with his brigade and the line is restored.

Franklin has begun attacking nearby across the middle bridge.

I called this game, CSA brigades are being literally blown out of existence and Franklin and Sumner's coordinated attack has entire divisions stacked up waiting for a chance to fit into the line.  Confederate losses have just been entirely too heavy for them to sustain.

Total casualties converting SP's into manpower is as follows by 1 o'clock:

CSA: 11,450 Infantry
          550 Cavalry
          60 guns + arty crew to go with
          9 Brigade Commanders, 1 Division Commander

Union: 13,600 Infantry
             1 gun and crew
             8 Brigade Commanders
