I'm using the Movement rules unmodified...and they aren't great tbh. Zulu unit move left the previous turn and had now moved right...dancing in place.

I might revert to my modified rule

The British took out 17 Zulu units

Zulu Random Fire Phase

The Zulu managed a hit on a British company in Zone 18

Melee Phase
The Zulu came off better here. Zone 18 was almost decimated and they're still pretty strong in the Donga (Zone 19)

Pulleine will have to pull back and there's no units to move forward to take the place...it's lost

The British pull back

Zulu Movement Phase

Zulu move left from the Donga, forward from Zone X into Zone 6 and replacements are entered into Zone 19...The Donga

British Fire Phase
The British have some decent results north and south
A fair amount of units are now out of ammo though

Zulu Random Fire Phase
They manage a single hour on Zone 25

Melee Phase
The British done well here...decimating the attack in the North and reducing the attack in the South to a few random Zulu.

The Zulu have 30 in Zone 19 and another 30 reinforcements due the next turn

The British have some shuffling to do to get units out of ammo off the front line

This is the situation at the end of Turn 4.

The British have 3VPs but that can soon be overturned.

The British are pulling back and the Zulu are advancing. 12 turns remaining... that's a long time for the British to hold out... especially as their front line is already collapsing

I had to read up on this battle as I could not recall anything except that it was a resounding success for one side or the other (I could not even recall that). That battle was something else.

Yeah - the British got humped here. Classic case of over-confidence of a military power against "savages". Remind you of any other wars during the last 100 years?

It was of course then followed up with a resounding defence of Rorke's Drift the following day.
