This Friday's post is something a bit out of the norm. We have a guest writer who is predominantly a miniatures player. He reviews our Thirty Years War game from that perspective and includes a competing digital product on the market, making some compare and contrast observations. We think you'll find the post interesting, and the value that TYW brings to the table is apparent:

This Game of the Week covers a fascinating period of warfare during the transition period from more traditional arms such as bows, pikes and swords, to a firepower dominated battlefield. Musket & Pike: Renaissance is the oldest period of warfare we cover, so far, and can be yours today at a discounted price. Check out the details in todays post:

Once again we bring you a post from a guest author. This time we switch to the Modern Campaigns series where the article is a pre-view of new content that is coming in the near future. Certain Strike '87 should be an enjoyable read for all those interested in this time period, and what (easily) might have been.

A monumental campaign is covered in this Game of the Week offering. Napoleon's Russian Campaign chronicles the launch of a half-million man multi-national force into the depths of Russia. This would see them drive all the way to Moscow, and then withdraw through the winter and limp back across the border as a skeleton force. Can you do better as Napoleon? Or can you stop him at Smolensk, or earlier, with the combined Russian armies? Pick up todays title and put the question to the test!

"Only one thing remained for the veteran Communist-cum-deity: reunification. Ever since the failed gamble of 1950, Pyongyang had endured a humiliating American presence on the peninsula, a permanent imperialist enclave that every day reminded Kim Il Sung of his one time failure. Almost as galling, the Combined Forces Command to the south reminded the North Korean leader of the debt Pyongyang owed Beijing, for it was Chinese soldiers that had stopped MacArthur’s drive to the Yalu, and the Chinese never forget. For the proud North Koreans, such obligations were a bitter pill."

Todays Game of the Week - Modern Campaigns: Korea '85 - let's you explore the explosive situation that existed on the Korean peninsula in the mid '80's. Read all about it in todays blog post:

"I shall soon leave here on the wing for Richmond - which you may be sure I will take."
- Major General George B. McClellan - March 16, 1862

Can you do better at the helm of the Union forces? Or can you stop them at the gates as the Confederates... or drive them back down the peninsula? Put it to the test with this Game of the Week - Civil War Battles: Campaign Peninsula.
