John Tiller’s daughter Julia is running the New York City Marathon again this year as a fund-raiser for the National Brain Tumor Society, in honor of her father. You can donate to the cause here, and pick up your own “Tiller’s Troopers” shirt at this link.
Julia also has a short 1-minute video that’s she’s made about her father and “Why I Run with the NBTS” that a good watch, and will bring back all sorts of John Tiller memories for those lucky enough to have ever met or worked with him.
The 2024 Fall Assembly will be held 11-13 October 2024.

Hitting the shelves (and webstores) near you now!
- S&T issue #349, featuring the game Korea: The Mobile War, is now available to order
- Compass Games started shipping Victory at Sea, Original 1992 Edition but you can still grab it at the pre-order price
- Avalanche Press says that Great War at Sea: Risk Fleet is now available
- As near as we can tell, Renegade Game Studios are now shipping Axis & Allies: North Africa
- Lord of Rigel finally released and is available on Steam, winning the race with Burden of Command for “damn that took a long time”
- Hayfoot! Strawfoot! is a new release from the new Homegrown Designs (printed by Blue Panther) that continues the Huzzah! system, and covers First Bull Run
- Frostpunk 2 is also in full release and also available on Steam, if that’s your jam
- Ares Games is now shipping a couple of the NUTS titles for which they are the US distributor
- GMT’s latest newsletter says these guys are shipping this week
- the long, long anticipated Red Dust Rebellion1
- Labyrinth, 5th printing and the 3″ box to hold the expansions
- Labyrinth, The Awakening 2010-?, 2nd printing
Time to get those orders in now and then either (a) complain that it’s 2 years late, and/or (b) be surprised when it gets here sooner than you thought
- The 2nd ed of Flying Pig’s ’65 – Squad Battles in the Jungles of Vietnam is now on Kickstarter and way past its funding goal
- If you got your copy of Divine Right over the past 2 weeks, but missed out on the neoprene map, Worthington is opening up pre-orders through Friday, but they are only taking pre-orders and this will not go to retail, according to them
- Routledge is really killing it with game-related academic books – on the heels of tomes from Suckling and Massini comes Graphic Design for Board Games from Daniel Solis (with an assist from Geoff Engelstein), now on pre-order
- Trekkies can go get their pre-orders in on Modiphius’ new Lower Decks – Buffer Time card game
- Get mad at us later, but you know you’d love to spend 2025 filling out the Hexcrawl Daily Workbook
- Rapid Fire! has their Road to Carentan scenario book on pre-order with orders shipping after the Partizan show on 13 October
- Worthington’s next Kickstarter is a tabletop 4x game, Imperial Stars II Legacy Edition that’s got about 2 weeks to go
- Ed Texiera (All Things Zombie) has a new urban warfare/commando-style solo game on Kickstarter called Red Ops 5
- DNA Voyager is Ventonuovo’s latest game on Kickstarter; definitely not a wargame but definitely uses a lot of generative AI art
- Free League put their Symbaroum setting City of Eternal Euphoria on pre-order

- Slitherine will be hosting their Home of the Wargamers event virtually again, with a stream on their Twitch channel on Thursday, 26 September
- ICv2 reports a couple of big headlines, including Hasbro moving their corporate offices and CMON selling off $12 million of their intellectual property
- BoardGameWire reports that Leder Games are looking at potential video game / comic book productions with “one of their IPs”
- Rascal recommends avoiding the new DD6e4 Players Handbook, but probably not for the reasons you think
- Stonemaier Games has an interesting column where they’ve surveyed peers in the industry about paid / comp’ed reviews
- It’s nice to see Sound of Drums finally get the lorem ipsum text off their front page
