HOW THE SPRUCE GOOSE WAS MOVED TO OREGON
why? what's the historical connection?
sorry, my question wasn't why post the article. My question was why should the Spruce Goose be moved to Oregon? It was built by Howard Hughes in Long Beach California. (I did take the tour when it first opened. ... not that far from the Queen Mary IIRC) From what I understand, it pretty much was overly ambitious for the time and pretty much a failure (I am sorry a "flight" that does not get out of ground effect does not qualify a successful flight test from my POV). A wooden massive seaplane ... building bigger and faster airplanes seemed to be the rich boy's pass time of the 40's - partially funded by the American taxpayer ... not that different from the rocket hobby of Bezos/Branson/Musk today.
So, people in the Long Beach area weren't flocking to view it anymore so they decided to move it to Oregon? I did not understand the connection between Oregon and the Spruce Goose. That is all.
Sorry if I offended.
