Classic Civ AAR: Part XX

Just one question: Why doesn’t a computer game have the invention of computer games as a technological advance to research?

This is an older AAR from almost a decade ago, represented here in case it disappears from its previous home

Plinking Barbarians

And if you look to the right, you’ll see I’m still finding ruins.

civv

Hey, look!

Ruins!

civv

Eek!

Elephants can swim, and they can fight. But fighting while swimming? Ermmm…

civv

Run Away!

Bucking the trend of idiot scouts in the employ of Carthage, this guy is getting away from the composite bowman about to kill him.

Trading Posts

Tundra is pretty useless terrain. Trading posts make it slightly less useless, but not that much.

A Barbarian Encampment

We found land! Yay!
We found Canadians! Oy!

civv

No “Large Person or Persons” Joke This Time

But I did generate another Great Prophet.

civv

The Southern Front

I’ve got some guys making landfall near Spain, but they’re not doing the best job of staying alive. What I really need to do is group them up together into a more coherent force and heal everyone back up, and then go poking around more.

civv

Scouts Running Away Again

He’s close to leveling up. He’s also close to getting his ass kicked. Time to un-ass the AO.

civv

Another City-State

But this one’s not a recluse!

civv

Trade Embassies?

Only if the ambassadors are well-schooled in your sense of fashion, thankyouverymuch.

civv

OK, So We Got a Deal

With each new release for Civ V, the number of things you have to have an embassy to trade with other civs increases.

civv

Look Ma…

….no lands!

civv

Another Intrepid Explorer

They don’t move as fast as scouts on land, but they do fine when they’re swimming.

civv

Schploosh, Schploosh

I’m going to send some elephants to help bail out the scout that’s trying to impersonate the Belgians in 1940.

civv

Where The Hell…?!

I’ve got a bunch of Canadian squatters right in the middle of my f’n’ turf! They’ll just go after any unclaimed bit of useless tundra they can find, don’t they?

civv

Hark, for an Age of Gold Has Dawned!

Look, it’s really all about the money, money, money

civv

As the Game Progresses…

From the dawn of civilization, it’s now knight time.

civv

Literacy Measures Scientific Achievement

And I’m not doing too bad, really…

civv

Let’s Make a Deal!

The Babylonians want to cut a deal with me now. I’m going throw some luxuries in along with the embassy exchange. I always want a good trade deal early in the relationship, before we start pissing each other off.

Next time? Find out if the Babylonians went for it. And more!
